Today is my day to celebrate, and I feel like I’m on top of the world. It’s exactly today, nine years ago, when I first set foot on Majorca. I was just 23 at the time and only knew Polish and English. I was completely alone, not knowing a soul on this mesmerizing island, but I was full of hope and ready for new adventures. In my mind, I had a plan to spend just one season on Majorca.
The beginning of my Majorca journey was nothing short of wild. It all started with a two-week training in Magaluf, which was an adventure in itself. Then, I got a job in Cala Dor, and from the very moment I drove into town for the first time, I knew it was my place on Earth. What was supposed to be just one season turned into nine years of incredible experiences.
During those nine years, I moved a whopping 16 times, living in various parts of the island. I had adventures in Cala Dor, Inca, Alcudia, Playa de Muro, and eventually back to Cala Dor. There were times when my old, beaten-up Ford Fiesta, which later ended up at the junkyard for a mere 50€, was filled to the brim with clothes, cosmetics, and everything I owned, being transported from one apartment to another.
But it wasn’t just about moving and changing living locations. It was also about learning languages I never dreamt of. I picked up Spanish, German, and even the Majorcan dialect. I worked as an entertainer, hotel receptionist, receptionist at a private German clinic, at a dentist’s office, and even as the head of the hotel reception responsible for sales and reservations at a network of three hotels. Let’s not forget the DJ, Wedding planner, and master of ceremonies courses I undertook.
Over these nine years, I also attempted to start my own businesses, but fortunately, they didn’t pan out. It turned out that what I’m doing now brings me more joy and satisfaction than I could ever have imagined. I now run a family business where I work as a Wedding planner, master of ceremonies, and organizer of tours, accommodations, engagements, and many other things I never knew I was capable of.
Throughout these nine years, I’ve met many wonderful people, as well as some less wonderful ones. I gained friends, but unfortunately, I lost some along the way. There were times when I neglected myself, went through a painful breakup with Jimi, and felt entirely lost, like a stranger to myself in a foreign world. It was a tough episode, but it taught me a lot. It allowed me to rediscover and love myself anew. What’s more, after a while, Jimi and I found our way back to each other, and now, after nine years, we have our own place, a dog, a cat, and we run a family business together.
We’re also planning our own magical wedding, set to happen next year in June. And all of this started from just one season on this beautiful island, which has become our forever home.
This is a story of dreams, perseverance, change, and a love for life and oneself.
